What are the Usage Areas of Potassium Chloride?
- Used as a mineral supplement in pharmaceutical production for use as a salt substitute.
- It has properties as a nutritional fortifying agent. At the same time, the potassium ion has chelating properties.
- Used as a nutrient fermented dose in yeast-based foods. It can also be used as a gelling agent.
- Used as a potassium source in food products. Additionally, it has gelling agent properties.
- Used as a laboratory reagent to increase the viscosity of products used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations.
- Muriate of Potash is generally known for its use as a fertilizer. In these applications, the forms called white potash are used in liquid fertilizer production.
- Used to prevent freezing and in the manufacture of de-icing chemicals. In these applications, it can be considered an alternative to Calcium Chloride, a similar product.
- It is the main compound used in the production of Potassium Hydroxide. It is the most affordable starting material as a potassium source in the commercial field.
- Used in water softening for heat treatment materials used in steel rolling mills.
- In mining and drilling activities, its clay stabilizer property is utilized for hydraulic fracturing.
- Health problems occur due to potassium levels in the blood. It should not fall below a certain level. Therefore, it is used in medical preparations to monitor and supplement potassium levels in the blood.
- It is one of the most important compounds used in the production of Potassium Nitrate.
- Used as a flame retardant in wood fire retardant production because it is an inexpensive raw material.
What are the Factors Affecting Prices?
The price of Potassium Chloride is directly proportional to the prices of the chemicals used in its production. When the prices of Hydrochloric Acid and Nitric Acid increase, the price of this chemical also rises.
Prices vary depending on the stocks of companies that sell Potassium Chloride. As stocks increase, prices will experience short-term decreases. With the decrease in stocks, market prices increase.
