This compound is a substance naturally found in the cartilage within joints. It is commercially produced from the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It is also a sugar naturally found in the tissues and fluid surrounding our joints.

How is D-Glucosamine Sulfate Produced?
D-Glucosamine Sulfate production is obtained from the shells of crustaceans.
Another method for production is using suitable plants in an environment with a hydroponic culture system. The plant used can be from the Cichorium, Daucus, Beta, and Helianthus species. Or these plant species can be used in combination.
First, the area where these plants will be grown is supported with nitrogen-containing fertilizers. The purpose is to ensure the formation of the Glucosamine Sulfate precursor in the plant. The fertilizer used consists of ammonium salts.
The reason for using nitrogen-containing fertilizer is that it has been determined to increase glucosamine formation in the plant by an additional 5 g per 5 kg.
The produced plants are heated in water between 70 °C and 110 °C for more than 1 hour. It is then extracted and dried.
